UPDATE: We have changed names, so we have a new site name! Please visit upatuga.org to find us!
UP at UGA depends on you to provide a better future to children of student-mothers in college. We believe everyone has something special and powerful with which to serve others. Whether you attend or work at UGA or are living in the Athens community, you have an opportunity to join UP at UGA and support mothers who need your help.
Attend a General Body Meeting
UP at UGA Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm in Dawson Hall, room 312. Dates for this semester's student meetings can be found on our Calendar. Anyone is welcome! Come learn about our club's purpose, get updates on our events and activities, help us brainstorm, and support student-mothers on your campus!
At club meetings, students learn how to join UP at UGA's Peer Support and Local Advocacy teams. Non-students and local professionals may speak directly with our board members to learn more about our specific needs.
Advocate for Change
We are working to help foster an equitable learning environment for student-mothers on the UGA campus. We're not just here for you, we're out there for you. Currently, we are working to reduce the cost of Family Housing for student-parents, develop a grant for student-mothers without the requirement of full-time student status, get prioritized parking services for pregnant students, and develop a proposal for on-campus childcare. Think you can help or want to get involved? Contact us!
Offer a Service or Product
Provide something that could benefit our student-mothers and their children pro-bono or at a discounted rate. Whether you're a counselor, lawyer, grocer, or tutor, you could make a positive impact in a student-mother's life today.
UGA Students are encouraged to use UP at UGA as a topic for a report or project.
100% of your donation helps a mother successfully be a mom and finish her college degree.
We're presently collecting donations of diapers, wipes, toys, books, gently used baby clothes, nursery furniture, and car seats.
We also accept donations for our childcare fund, which helps mothers afford the childcare they need to attend classes and work.
